Veterinary Surgery Services for Pets

We offer a wide selection of elective and non-elective surgical procedures for dogs and cats at our Wisconsin Dells clinic, following stringent surgical protocols to ensure the safety of our patients.

In the course of each surgery, a dedicated member of our veterinary staff will administer anesthesia and continuously monitor your pet using our electronic patient monitoring equipment. We will also be sure to provide your companion with pain management to help them remain comfortable.

Post-operative monitoring and pain management are our priorities following surgery. Your vet will also provide thorough instructions for at-home care.

What to Expect from Veterinary Surgery

We always keep our clients fully informed about why we are recommending a given surgical procedure as well as about what kind of post-operative care their companion will require once they are able to return home.

Surgical Procedures

At Dells Animal Hospital, we perform medical and emergency surgeries to help treat disease and conditions in pets or to repair injuries sustained through trauma.

Our Wisconsin Dells vets routinely perform the following elective and non-elective surgeries:

  • Soft Tissue Surgery

For pets suffering from ear, nose, and throat disorders, we offer soft tissue surgical procedures.

These procedures are also available for animals with skin, hepatic, cardiothoracic, oncological and gastrointestinal disorders, among others.

  • Spaying & Neutering

When we spay or neuter a cat or dog, we surgically sterilize them to prevent disease and provide them with an extended life expectancy.

  • C-Sections

During a Cesarean section, our veterinarians surgical remove kittens or puppies from their mother's uterus.

C-sections are typically performed when the mother is unable to give birth naturally.

  • Mass Removal

Dogs and cats may sometimes develop masses associated with their skin. These masses can also grow inside their body cavity, becoming quite serious, or even life-threatening.

Mass removal surgery is a fairly common procedure for both cats and dogs.

  • Foreign Body

Sometimes, foreign objects are ingested or can get stuck inside a cat's or dog's body.

Whether your pet has eaten an object they shouldn't have or an accident has left them injured, we can perform foreign body surgery to remove it.

In some instances, specialized equipment and skills will be needed to perform this pet surgery. If this is the case for your companion, our vets will refer you to a cat or dog surgeon near Wisconsin Dells. We will work closely with your veterinary surgeon to ensure that your pet gets the best care possible.

  • Wounds

Wounds occur when living tissue has been cut, broken, burnt, torn, or otherwise damaged.

It's imperative that these wounds be cleaned, disinfected, and appropriately cared for by a qualified veterinarian as soon as possible.

  • Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic surgeries correct injuries and diseases of the bones, ligaments, joints, tendons, and other skeletal structures in your pet.

If your dog or cat is suffering from a condition or injury that requires advanced specialized care your vet will refer your dog or cat to a vet surgeon near Wisconsin Dells.

  • Dental Surgery

Our veterinarians are able to provide dental surgeries for dogs and cats suffering from oral health issues that require intensive care.

These surgeries can include tooth extractions, gum disease treatments and jaw fracture repairs.

The Veterinary Surgery Process

We know that the prospect of bringing your pet in for surgery can be an intimidating one. But rest assured that we only recommend surgery when it is in the best interest of our four-legged companion.

We will take the time to make sure that you fully understand why we are recommending a given veterinary surgery and that you are comfortable with making the decision to move ahead.

If your pet requires advanced care, our vets will refer you to a veterinary surgeon near Wisconsin Dells, and work closely with your vet surgeon to ensure that your pet receives the best possible care.

Surgical protocols at our clinic include:

Pre-surgical assessments. We will confirm the specifics of the procedure and conduct a physical examination of our patient, making sure that optional blood testing has been completed and reviewed to rule out the risk of anesthesia-related complications.

Dedicated surgical suites. Surgeries are performed in a dedicated surgical suite.

Sterile packs and equipment. We carefully clean, sterilize and wrap our surgical instruments and equipment prior to every surgery.
